I unders\u00f8kelse utf\u00f8rt av amerikanske Nielsen Media Research i september 2009 avsl\u00f8res det at blant de som spiller mer enn 60 minutter per uke, s\u00e5 er hele 45% jenter.<\/p>\n

PSP mest popul\u00e6r<\/h5>\n

Unders\u00f8kelsen inkluderer alle typer konsoller, og viser at PSP (Playstation Portable) er den mest popul\u00e6re spillmaskinen blant jenter; hele 52% av alle som eier en PSP i USA er jente. Av rene spillkonsoller er Wii den overlegne vinneren, med 45% kvinnelig eierskap.<\/p>\n

Dette bekrefter til dels tidligere unders\u00f8kelser, som har vist at jenter og unge kvinner ofte foretrekker s\u00e5kalte casual games og sosiale spill – som f. eks. \u00abThe Sims\u00bb og \u00abWii Sports\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Nielsen sin unders\u00f8kelse peker ogs\u00e5 p\u00e5 at hele 73% av amerikanske husholdninger n\u00e5 eier en eller annen type spillmaskin (inklusive PC), og at 54% av husholdningene har en ren spillkonsoll eller h\u00e5ndholdt spillmaskin.<\/p>\n
