\u00abThe Gathering\u00bb<\/a> er verdens nest st\u00f8rste datatreff etter Dreamhack i Sverige, og har blitt arrangert siden 1992. Vegard Skjefstad var en av gr\u00fcnderne bak \u00abThe Gathering\u00bb, og blir derfor ofte omtalt som \u00abTG-sjefen\u00bb. Vegard ble k\u00e5ret til \u00ab\u00c5rets Geek\u00bb i 2009 av Microsoft, og ble nominert til \u00ab\u00c5rets ildsjel\u00bb i Gullstikka 2009. Privat er Vegard en engasjert og datainteressert fyr som snakker fort og gestikulerer n\u00e5r han prater. <\/p>\n

I forrige uke satte vi i Spill.no oss ned med Vegard, og snakket om \u00e5rets \u00abThe Gathering\u00bb-arrangement.<\/p>\n

– Vil begeistre<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Hva \u00f8nsker du og Kandu<\/a> – organisasjonen som arrangerer \u00abThe Gathering\u00bb – \u00e5 oppn\u00e5 med \u00e5rets arrangement? <\/strong>
– I \u00e5r \u00f8nsker vi \u00e5 inspirere folk til \u00e5 tenke nytt og gj\u00f8re ting annerledes. \u00c5rets temaet er \u00abSubmerged\u00bb, som betyr \u00e5 fordype seg i noe. Det er ogs\u00e5 The Gathering sitt mantra; \u00e5 f\u00e5 folk til \u00e5 fordype seg i interessen sin, og \u00e5 la seg begeistre underveis.<\/p>\n

– I \u00e5r har vi ogs\u00e5 flyttet scenen til midt i lokalet, p\u00e5 langsiden av Vikingskipet. Dette gj\u00f8r vi for \u00e5 \u00f8ke fokuset p\u00e5 det som skjer p\u00e5 scenen. The Gathering handler ikke bare om \u00e5 sitte foran en dataskjerm – det handler om konkurranser og det sosiale aspektet ved hele arrangementet.<\/p>\n

5200 deltakere<\/h5>\n

\u00abThe Gathering\u00bb varer fem dager i strekk, og i \u00e5r forventes det at n\u00e6rmere 5200 deltakere vil str\u00f8mme gjennom d\u00f8rene p\u00e5 Vikingskipet. Men ikke alle er like forn\u00f8yde med arrangements utvikling.<\/p>\n

Hva sier du til de som mener at \u00abThe Gathering\u00bb er blitt et asosialt spilltreff – og at det ikke handler s\u00e5 mye som programmering, grafikk og musikk lenger? <\/strong>
– Det er klart \u00abThe Gathering\u00bb har forandret seg gjennom tidene. Vi er et av verdens st\u00f8rste datatreff, og vi tilpasser oss de som kommer p\u00e5 treffet. Samtidig er det slik at folk alltid mener at ting \u00abvar best f\u00f8r\u00bb. Men hadde det virkelig stemt, s\u00e5 hadde ikke de samme folka kommet tilbake \u00e5r etter \u00e5r. Vi har tross alt v\u00e6rt utsolgt \u00e5r etter \u00e5r i 10 \u00e5r n\u00e5.<\/p>\n
