I et seks siders intevju i siste nummer av utviklermagasinet Develop<\/a> forteller Valve-sjef Gabe Newell at studioet n\u00e5 \u00f8nsker \u00e5 skrinlegge episodeutgivelser, og heller fokusere p\u00e5 deres nye filosofi: “spill som en tjeneste<\/em>“.<\/p>\n

I dette legger Newell at spillene vil fungere som egne plattformer med kundebaser som skal f\u00e5 gi tilbakemeldinger om hva de \u00f8nsker av videre innhold. Dette skal s\u00e5 dukke opp som nedlastbare oppdateringer, snarere enn egne “episoder”, et eksperiment Newell mener studioet n\u00e5 har lagt bak seg.<\/p>\n

– Vi gikk gjennom episodefasen, og n\u00e5 beveger vi oss mot kortere og kortere tidsrom, forteller han til bladet.<\/p>\n

– Hvis du ser p\u00e5 Team Fortress <\/em>2, er det modellen for endringene vi har gjort.<\/p>\n

Team Fortress 2<\/em> har siden lansering i 2007 f\u00e5tt over 200 oppdateringer, med masser av nytt innhold. Til sammenligning har det bare dukket opp to episoder til Half-Life 2 <\/em>siden det havnet i hyllene i 2004.<\/p>\n

Valve lanserte nylig Portal 2<\/em> til unison hyllest hos anmelderne, ogs\u00e5 full pott fra spill.no-redakt\u00f8r Jon Cato Lorentzen<\/a>, og p\u00e5 sp\u00f8rsm\u00e5l om hvordan selskapets nye filosofi vil prege spillets fremtid, er Newell \u00e5pen:<\/p>\n
