I februar kunne vi skrive om den norske spillutvikleren Artplant som hadde sikret seg lisens til \u00e5 lage et onlinerollespill basert p\u00e5 den popul\u00e6re bok- og TV-serien A Game of Thrones<\/em>. N\u00e5 har Artplant sikret seg nok en utviklerjobb, denne gangen skal de lage et spill basert p\u00e5 G.I. Joe<\/em>.<\/p>\n

G.I. Joe<\/em> var opprinnelig en tegnefilmserie for barn med amerikanske superhelt-aktige soldater i kamp mot terroristorganisasjonen Cobra. I nyere tid har den gjenoppst\u00e5tt som spillefilm, og en oppf\u00f8lger til filmen kommer senere i \u00e5r.<\/p>\n

Med fjor\u00e5rets lansering av Battlestar Galactica Online<\/em>, samt den nylige annonseringen av Game of Thrones<\/em>-rollespillet, virker det som den norske utvikleren har spesialisert seg p\u00e5 \u00e5 lage spill av store lisenser. Det er et resultat av fire \u00e5rs hardt arbeid, forteller studiosjef Jack Kristoffersen Wulff til Spill.no.<\/p>\n

– Vi bestemte oss for fire \u00e5r siden \u00e5 bli mestere p\u00e5 3D MMO webspill, og har brukt mye tid p\u00e5 bygge opp teknologi og erfaring for \u00e5 n\u00e5 dette. S\u00e5 det at vi var tidlig ute, og hadde laserfokus, har gjort at vi n\u00e5 er den ledende utvikleren av denne typen spill. Og suksessen til Battlestar Galactica<\/em> \u00e5pnet selvsagt masse d\u00f8rer for oss, forteller Wulff. <\/p>\n

P\u00e5 starten av 2000-tallet spesialiserte Artplant seg p\u00e5 norske barnespill basert p\u00e5 lisenser, og de har blant annet jobbet med Kaptein Sabeltann, Jul i Skomakergata<\/em> og Jul i Bl\u00e5fjell<\/em>. Utviklerne er vant til \u00e5 jobbe med andres verk, men det er noen forskjeller n\u00e5r de n\u00e5 skal takle store amerikanske skaperverk.<\/p>\n

– Den st\u00f8rste forskjellen er at i Norge s\u00e5 snakket vi med personen som hadde lagd universet, mens p\u00e5 amerikanske IP-er (intellektuell eiendom, journ.anm) s\u00e5 snakker vi med en produsent i selskapet som eier IP-en. Det er definitivt enklere \u00e5 kunne sp\u00f8rre Terje Formoe direkte om det var greit at man sl\u00e5ss med sp\u00f8kelset til Grusomme Gabriel, sier Wulff.<\/p>\n

G.I. Joe – Special Ops<\/em> skal utvikles til Facebook, en plattform mange gamere anser som en mindreverdig spillplattform. Men Artplant vil gjerne endre denne oppfatningen.<\/p>\n

– Utfordringen – og muligheten – med \u00e5 lage Facebook-spill er jo at mange spillere ikke forbinder Facebook med en morsom spillopplevelse. S\u00e5 vi jobber med \u00e5 ta vare p\u00e5 den “vanlige” spillbarheten fra PC og konsoll, men s\u00e5 bryte den opp s\u00e5 spillet kan ta nytte av alle de spennende tingene som kommer med Facebook-plattformen, forklarer Wulff.<\/p>\n

G.I. Joe – Special Ops<\/em> skal etter planen lanseres til Facebook i juni.<\/p>\n
