N\u00e5r noe tar av innen film- eller TV-serier, lurer det som regel et elendig spill i kj\u00f8lvannet av suksessen. Et hurtig lisensprodukt laget for \u00e5 cashe inn p\u00e5 en voldsom popularitet, og dermed ofte av svak kvalitet. Game of Thrones<\/em> lykkes nesten som en utvidelse av George R. R. Martins fascinerende fantasy-univers.<\/p>\n

Sidehistorie<\/h5>\n

Det lykkes f\u00f8rst og fremst fordi de franske utviklerne i Cyanide ikke har falt for fristelsen til \u00e5 gjenskape b\u00f8kene eller TV-serien i spillform, s\u00e5 vi slipper \u00e5 forholde oss til radbrekkete interaktive versjoner av opplevelser mange av oss allerede har hatt i b\u00f8kene eller foran skjermen. I stedet har George R. R. Martin bidratt med en sidehistorie som foreg\u00e5r helt i starten av b\u00f8kenes handling.<\/p>\n

Dermed unng\u00e5r vi \u00e5 styre Stark-br\u00f8dre og Lannister-s\u00f8sken direkte, i stedet befinner vi oss i periferien av den gryende konflikten i Westeros, med to nye helter som har sine egne problemer og utfordringer \u00e5 h\u00e5ndtere. <\/p>\n

Det er et spill formet utelukkende for de som f\u00f8lger serien eller leser b\u00f8kene. Spillet er et d\u00e5rlig utgangspunkt for \u00e5 komme inn i Martins univers, men belager seg p\u00e5 at du kjenner til handlingen fra serien slik at referansene til navn, steder og hendelser allerede er kjent for deg.<\/p>\n

Og slik sett fungerer historien utmerket. Det utbroderer Westeros, og gir mer liv til b\u00e5de TV-serien og b\u00f8kene. Jeg f\u00e5r ny informasjon om brorskapet som vokter veggen i nord, om ildguden R’hllor, og om byer og folk i periferien for hovedhandlingen. Jeg liker m\u00e5ten Westeros blir enda mer levende p\u00e5 denne m\u00e5ten. Jeg er glad for at Cyanide ikke har kastet seg rett inn i hovedhandlingen men i stedet n\u00f8yd seg med \u00e5 lage nye eventyr p\u00e5 siden av b\u00f8kene.<\/p>\n

Trist<\/h5>\n

Men nytelsen stopper ogs\u00e5 der. Som rollespillopplevelse f\u00f8les Game of Thrones<\/em> som et b-spill p\u00e5 alle omr\u00e5der. For det f\u00f8rste har du selve spillopplevelsen. Som i andre rollespill g\u00e5r spillet ut p\u00e5 utforsking og kamp. F\u00f8rstnevnte er en trist opplevelse. Detaljniv\u00e5et i omgivelsene fra spill som Skyrim<\/em> eller Dark Souls<\/em> finnes ikke her, i stedet rusler vi rundt i generiske og uinspirerte Unreal engine-omgivelser som har blitt satt sammen i hui og hast. Kvadratisk arkitektur og livl\u00f8se gater, der innbyggerne st\u00e5r oppstilt som ufrivillige statister med jevne mellomrom.<\/p>\n

Kampsystemet skuffer likes\u00e5. Fundamentet ser ut til \u00e5 v\u00e6re p\u00e5 plass, med muligheten for \u00e5 tilpasse karakteren sin til ulike kampstiler, dele ut ferdighetspoeng og velge \u00e5 utvikle visse spesialangrep, men kampene er en bisarr blanding av gamle statiske japanske rollespill med klassisk onlinerollespillangrep. Med en gang man m\u00f8ter fiender rusher man til hverandre for \u00e5 st\u00e5 og dele ut slag etter tur i en sv\u00e6r m\u00f8lje. Man kan aktivere ulike spesialangrep, og ogs\u00e5 bytte mellom de to karakterene i f\u00f8lget, men det er ogs\u00e5 alt. <\/p>\n

Jeg savner et dypere taktisk element i kampene. Systemet er p\u00e5 plass, men det hadde v\u00e6rt langt mer tilfredsstillende \u00e5 gj\u00f8re det fullstendig rundebasert slik at posisjonering og landskap kunne spilt en rolle. N\u00e5 blir bare hver kamp et m\u00f8ljeslagsm\u00e5l der jeg trykker p\u00e5 ulike ferdigheter mens jeg kveler en liten gjesp.<\/p>\n

Dermed ender Game of Thrones<\/em> opp midt p\u00e5 treet. Sammenlignet med den p\u00e5kostede TV-serien er det noe unektelig B-aktig over spillproduksjonen. Skuespillet er til tider helt forferdelig, og det er tydelig at Cyanide har v\u00e6rt mest opptatt av \u00e5 f\u00e5 spillet til \u00e5 henge sammen og ikke har hatt tid til \u00e5 polere det ytterligere n\u00e5r alt f\u00f8rst har fungert.<\/p>\n

Sammenlignet med de mer p\u00e5kostede rollespillene vi har opplevd det siste \u00e5ret, f\u00f8les Game of Thrones<\/em> amat\u00f8rmessig. Det er synd, for jeg klarer faktisk \u00e5 se forbi sm\u00e5feilene og hygge meg med historien i spillet rett som det er, men kommer aldri bort fra tanken om at dette kunne v\u00e6rt s\u00e5 mye mer storslagent og underholdende med et bedre kampsystem og mer tid til presentasjon og omgivelser.<\/p>\n
