Et av mine ankepunkter mot nye SimCity<\/em> er at byene f\u00f8les merkelig utdaterte. Bymodelleringen ser ut til \u00e5 v\u00e6re basert p\u00e5 amerikanske byer fra 50-tallet, bilbaserte trafikktunge beist uten sykkelveier og milj\u00f8vennlige alternativer til en massiv bilkultur. Moderne byplanlegging handler om milj\u00f8 og trivsel, trafikkmaskiner under bakken, kollektivtrafikk og sykkelruter, og det er umulig \u00e5 skape en slik by i SimCity<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Konkurranse<\/h5>\n

Derfor stusset jeg litt tidligere i dag da jeg fikk en mail fra Electronic Arts om en konkurranse de arrangerer for studenter. De gir bort SimCity<\/em>-spill til studenter for at de skal planlegge moderne byer som skal sendes inn til Electronic Arts i Norge. De beste byene vil presenteres p\u00e5 et eget event til h\u00f8sten for inviterte gjester som Oslos ordf\u00f8rer Fabian Stang.<\/p>\n

– Spillet SimCity<\/em> fra EA vil i \u00e5r virkelig gi spillere muligheten til \u00e5 f\u00e5 et grundig innblikk i hva det vil si \u00e5 skape b\u00e6rekraftige byer. I \u00e5r vil vi at dette skal v\u00e6re noe mer enn teorier i spill. For at dette skal f\u00e5 muligheten til \u00e5 p\u00e5virke norske byer sin fremtidige utvikling \u00f8nsker vi \u00e5 utfordre studiemilj\u00f8er som jobber med arkitektur, design og byplanlegging til \u00e5 vise oss hva de mener er morgendagens perfekte by, skriver Electronic Arts i pressemeldingen.<\/p>\n

Alle som studerer 3D-design, arkitektur eller byplanlegging kan delta. En jury best\u00e5ende av en arkitekt, en designer og en representant fra EA vil k\u00e5re en vinner som f\u00e5r en Makerbot 3D-printer.<\/p>\n

Som eksempel p\u00e5 hva slags moderne byer EA vil se nevner de blant annet at man kan gj\u00f8re om Oslo til en sykkelby, noe som er litt merkelig ettersom det finnes verken syklister eller sykkelstier i SimCity<\/em>.<\/p>\n

– Hele konkurransen trenger ikke “finne sted” i selve spillet. Man kan lage sine egne skisser i virkeligheten og presentere dem. Sykkelstier var brukt som et eksempel, men ja, man kan ikke lage akkurat det i spillet, forteller markedssjef Silje Gr\u00f8nli i EA Norge meg.<\/p>\n

– Byene er til en viss grad overf\u00f8rbare til virkeligheten. S\u00e6rlig grunntanker som at innbyggerne dine blir mer forn\u00f8yde av \u00e5 ha diverse parker og gr\u00f8ntomr\u00e5der i n\u00e6rmilj\u00f8et, enn om du setter opp en avfallsdump rundt hj\u00f8rne, sier Gr\u00f8nli n\u00e5r jeg sp\u00f8r om bymodellene i spillet er relevante for dagens utfordringer rundt byutvikling.<\/p>\n

Det sp\u00f8rs hva Fabian Stang vil f\u00e5 ut av SimCity<\/em>-byene. Personlig krysser jeg fingrene for at noen klarer \u00e5 plassere Lambda i en eller annen Oslo-modell s\u00e5 vi endelig kan f\u00e5 se hvordan Oslo ser ut med et skikkelig Munch-museum.<\/p>\n
