I sommer ble det lansert en tilleggspakke til det enorme rollespillet The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim som sperret opp \u00f8ynene til de fleste. Denne “pakken”, som g\u00e5r under navnet Falskaar, er s\u00e5 absolutt fullverdig med blant annet en egen historie p\u00e5 15 timer og flere sideoppdrag, men er ikke laget av Bethesda selv. Det er ikke en gang et ordentlig utviklerteam som st\u00e5r bak det – tillegget er nemlig kun en mod som er laget av en eneste mann ved navn Alexander J. Velicky. N\u00e5 har mannen f\u00e5tt en ordentlig jobb som spillutvikler, og det hos Bungie, som er mest kjent for Halo-spillene og det kommende Destiny.<\/p>\n

Det er ikke f\u00f8rste gang en lovende mod-utvikler har f\u00e5tt jobb hos en stor utvikler pga. sine krumspring, og spesielt Valve har v\u00e6rt ivrig med \u00e5 rekruttere slike. Velicky selv ser ut til \u00e5 v\u00e6re b\u00e5de overrasket og ekstremt takknemlig for stillingen han har f\u00e5tt, og sier dette til den store verden p\u00e5 forumene til Bethesda:<\/p>\n

“Jeg kan med glede annonsere at jeg har f\u00e5tt en designer-stilling i Bungie. Jeg kan ikke uttrykke hvor spent jeg er p\u00e5 dette. Men dette handler ikke om meg; dette handler om min takk til dere – communitiet. Modding har v\u00e6rt 90% av livet mitt de siste fire \u00e5rene, og dere har st\u00f8ttet hele veien. […] Jeg takker alle dere som har kommet med feedback p\u00e5 en mod jeg har laget. Alle dere gjorde dette mulig. Enten ved \u00e5 hjelpe meg gjennom prosessen med positive og motiverende kommentarer, eller \u00e5 si hva jeg kan gj\u00f8re bedre neste gang. Det skylder jeg dere alle.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Videre forteller han blant annet hvor overrasket han er over at akkurat Bungie var utvikleren han endte opp \u00e5 jobbe hos:<\/p>\n

“Jeg s\u00f8kte hos mange utviklere, og Bungie var det absolutte “store selskapet som kom til \u00e5 ignorere meg”. Vel, det gjorde de ikke, og se hva som skjedde. Bungie er en kjempekul utvikler med kjempekule folk, og jeg er utrolig glad for at de har gitt meg en sjanse. Ikke v\u00e6r redd for \u00e5 pr\u00f8ve; jeg tok meg tiden til \u00e5 s\u00f8ke og gevinsten har v\u00e6rt st\u00f8rre enn jeg kunne tenke p\u00e5.”<\/em><\/p>\n

P\u00e5 et sp\u00f8rsm\u00e5l om han vil fortsette som modder svarte han at det er usikkert grunnet prioriteringene han n\u00e5 st\u00e5r ovenfor. Han innr\u00f8mmer imidlertid at det kan friste n\u00e5r et evt. Fallout 4 lander p\u00e5 markedet.<\/p>\n
