Da det i g\u00e5r ble kjent at toppene i Nintendo kuttet sin egen l\u00f8nn p\u00e5 grunn av d\u00e5rlige finansutsikter, ble det ogs\u00e5 klart at det i dag skulle holdes en pressekonferanse ang\u00e5ende det japanske selskapets planer for fremtiden. Et av de mer oppsiktsvekkende nyhetene er en ny salgsmodell de tenker \u00e5 pr\u00f8ve ut for \u00e5 sikre h\u00f8yere salgstall for spillene til konsollene sine; simpelthen skal et slags poengsystem s\u00f8rge for at man vil f\u00e5 Nintendo-spill billigere jo flere spill man kj\u00f8per.<\/p>\n

Iwata hevder at Nintendo Network ID-systemet endrer Nintendos forhold til sine forbrukere p\u00e5 en m\u00e5te som gagner en slik modell:<\/p>\n

“Med v\u00e5rt brukerkonto-system i bunnen, kan vi danne et system som lar v\u00e5re forbrukere more seg med spillene v\u00e5re for en smalere pris n\u00e5r de kj\u00f8per mer, hvis vi p\u00e5 fleksibelt vis klarer \u00e5 tilby poeng til spillere som oppfyller visse krav. Et slikt forhold mellom oss og spillerne lar oss danne varige forhold med forbrukerne som fortsetter up\u00e5virket av nye konsollanseringer i mye st\u00f8rre grad enn v\u00e5r gamle tankegang.” \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Presidenten p\u00e5peker ogs\u00e5 at de vil bevege seg fra et system som har best\u00e5tt siden spillmediet s\u00e5 dagens lys. Han mener at prismodellene slik de er n\u00e5 ikke kommer til \u00e5 overleve for alltid, og at eksperimentering med nyere modeller er veien \u00e5 g\u00e5. Selv h\u00e5per han at det han og resten av Nintendo vil pr\u00f8ve p\u00e5 ender opp som en vinn-vinn-situasjon for b\u00e5de spillerne og spillutviklerne, ved at den \u00e5pner for h\u00f8yere salgstall og mer bruk av konsollene deres, samtidig som at det ikke g\u00e5r spesielt mye utover lommeb\u00f8kene til spillerne.<\/p>\n
