P\u00e5 Irrational Games’ hjemmeside<\/a> kunne studiosjef Ken Levine i kveld komme med en sv\u00e6rt overraskende nyhet; her kunngj\u00f8r han nemlig at studioet etter 17 \u00e5r i bransjen oppl\u00f8ses. Levine forklarer at han etter den lange og flotte tiden han har hatt i studioet f\u00f8ler at det er p\u00e5 tide \u00e5 g\u00e5 videre, og planen hans er n\u00e5 \u00e5 starte p\u00e5 nytt og fyre opp det han kaller et entrepen\u00f8raktig foretak. Dette studioet skal ogs\u00e5 i likhet med Irrational ligge under utgiver Take-Two.<\/p>\n

Irrational Games har endt opp som et av de mest respekterte studioene i spillbransjen med spill som System Shock 2, Bioshock og Bioshock Infinite. Ken Levine skal i tillegg ha hatt en viktig finger med i spillet under utviklingen av det f\u00f8rste Thief-spillet – The Dark Project.<\/p>\n

De andre ansatte i studioet blir i f\u00f8lge utviklerlegenden tatt godt vare p\u00e5, og f\u00e5r mye st\u00f8tte gjennom den kommende prosessen. Blant annet skal en rekrutteringsdag v\u00e6re p\u00e5 trappene der andre utviklere under Take-Twos paraply skal m\u00f8te dem med \u00e5pne armer.<\/p>\n

N\u00e5 vil Levine lage et studio med f\u00e6rre ansatte, som vil ha det han kaller en flatere struktur og et n\u00e6rmere forhold til spillerne selv. Dette har f\u00f8rt til en av de mest merkbare endringene han setter i verk, som blir at studioet kun gir ut spillene sine digitalt.<\/p>\n

Visjonen hans for spillene i seg selv ser imidlertid ikke ut til \u00e5 ha sluknet, og fokuset ligger fortsatt p\u00e5 \u00e5 lage historiefokuserte spill. Tvisten er at de i st\u00f8rre grad enn tidligere skal v\u00e6re rettet mot kjernespilleren, og at gjenspillingsverdi er i et st\u00f8rre fokus. Flere direkte detaljer om det kommende spillet hans varsler han at vil komme i n\u00e6rmeste fremtid, men akkurat n\u00e5 sier han at han er i en design-prosess som kan vare en god stund.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Denne overraskende stengningen betyr imidlertid ikke kroken p\u00e5 d\u00f8ra for Bioshock-serien. Levine har gitt stafettpinnen videre til 2K Games, som tidligere har st\u00e5tt bak Bioshock 2, og den siste tilleggspakken til Bioshock Infinite st\u00e5r for tur om en m\u00e5neds tid.
