De aller fleste har nok h\u00f8rt legenden om E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial til Atari 2600. Spillet som, var basert p\u00e5 filmen ved samme navn, ble lansert i 1982 etter en utviklingstid p\u00e5 f\u00e5 uker. Mange mener spillet er et av tidenes d\u00e5rligste, og ryktene skal ha det til at Atari begravde store lastebillast av spillet i \u00f8rkenen i New Mexico.<\/p>\n

N\u00e5 har legenden om E.T. blitt bevist en gang for alle. Filmteamet Fuse Industries reiste sammen med blant andre Microsoft<\/a> og tidligere Atari-sjef James Heller for \u00e5 unders\u00f8ke den ryktede E.T.-gravplassen, og de fikk resultater med en gang.<\/p>\n

Det f\u00f8rste som ble funnet under utgravningen var en Atari 2600-kontroller, og like etterp\u00e5 oppdaget de et eksemplar av E.T.-spillet. En stor mengde E.T.-spill skal n\u00e5 ha blitt gravd opp, og selv om det n\u00f8yaktige antallet fortsatt er ukjent, er det ingen tvil om at det faktisk er den beryktede spillgravplassen som er funnet.<\/p>\n

I tillegg til eksemplarer av E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial har det blitt funnet en rekke andre Atari-spill, deriblant Space Invaders, Centipede og Asteroids. Noen av spillene er \u00e5 finne i relativt god stand med alt av innhold inntakt, mens andre mangler bokser eller annet innhold.<\/p>\n

Tidligere Atari-sjef James Heller kunne under utgravningen avsl\u00f8re <\/a>at han i 1983 fikk oppgaven om \u00e5 kvitte selskapet for 728000 spill. L\u00f8sningen ble, slik ryktene hevdet, \u00e5 kj\u00f8re flere lass med spill ut i \u00f8rkenen i New Mexico. Etter at nyheten om de dumpede spillene n\u00e5dde nysgjerrige barn p\u00e5 utkikk etter gratise spill, m\u00e5tte spillene dekkes med et lag med betong. De ble imidlertid aldri knust f\u00f8r dumpingen, slik variasjoner av legenden vil ha det til.<\/p>\n

Det er verdt \u00e5 nevne at det ikke var, slik noen variasjoner av legenden forteller, kun et lass med E.T.-spill som ble dumpet grunnet spillets d\u00e5rlige prestasjoner p\u00e5 markedet. Slik utgravningen bekrefter, ble stedet brukt som en dumpingplass for Atari-spill generelt, og E.T.-spillets finansielle prestasjoner regnes ofte for \u00e5 v\u00e6re en viktig del av hvorfor Atari m\u00e5tte kaste s\u00e5 store mengder spill.<\/p>\n

En av spillhistoriens eldste legender er n\u00e5 bekreftet en gang for alle, over 30 \u00e5r etter hendelsen tok sted. Historien om E.T. er imidlertid ikke over riktig enn\u00e5. En Microsoft-produsert dokumentarfilm skal lanseres p\u00e5 Xbox One og Xbox 360 i \u00e5r, og en spillefilm skapt av James Rolfe<\/a>, mannen bak den popul\u00e6re karakteren The Angry Video Game Nerd, er i slutten av produksjonsfasen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
